A customer came into her shop with a horrifying situation. A woman came in desperate for help in trying to exorcise a spirit that has been plaguing her for over ten years. But recently, the attacks have become more physical and threatening. A self-proclaimed Medium recommended that the woman get for her a "Witches Broom" and a few other things. The instructions she gave was that she use the Lord's Prayer with a Rosary, and use a "Hail, Mary" and place a Bible and the Broom under her bed. This woman even had the local Catholic Church Exorcist come in to perform an exorcism (something that is actually hard to achieve). This resulted in the entity expelling the Priest instead. The Priest said he could do nothing for her. This woman has a 2 1/2 year old son that she is afraid the spirit wants to claim. BackgroundAs having an in depth knowledge of working with spiritual entities, I have to take a step back when giving advice, especially when the Catholic Church is in play. Anyone who knows much about the rules and laws of the Catholic Church and having an Exorcism approved by the Church is very difficult to achieve. You have to have many invites by Church Officials to an in depth study and research into the case, and this can take years to achieve. So part of me has to wonder if this woman's story is real. But, as a Fayerie Traditionalist, I have to look at the worry and concern of this individual, even IF the statement of the Exorcism is not true. This woman is truly frightened to turn to someone OUTSIDE of the Church. The fact that she went to a Medium tells me that she is desperate. Add to that the bullocks story the Medium tried to peddle tells me that this woman is desperate enough to try anything, even if it sounds out of place. Types of SpiritsAs a Fayerie Traditionalist, I know that there are as many types of spirits out there as there are species of living creatures here in the Seen World. And that there are many types of predatory entities. There are various Fayerie entities that live off of soul-theft. Even the entities that come at us in the form of bacteria and virus's can eat away at the important equilibrium which gives us life. A typical predatory spirit can be tricked through the proper use of a Witches Bottle. If, the Witches Bottle fails to trick the entity, then more drastic measures must be implemented, such as a Spirit Trap. But if this entity is indeed an Indweller of the Land, or a "Spirit of Place", there is little that can be done. Construction of a Witches BottleThe most used tool in minimizing the predation of spirits, is the use of a Witches Bottle. A Witches Bottle is made from a dark, usually a brown colored bottle. Within is placed vinegar, urine, hair, nails, and things which can lure the entity within it. The urine and hair and nails entice the entity, making it think that this bottle IS the individual that they are after. On the top, is sealed with wax and a Spirit Trap Sigil is used. The bottle is then taken out into the woods, in an area that the individual will NEVER TRAVEL TO AGAIN. And when you place it, you never ever come back the way you came, as this tricks the spirit from following you home again. What About Spirits of Place?Spirits of Place cannot be appeased in such ways. It cannot be tricked. It cannot be banished, no matter what other spiritual traditions may say. They can only be appeased through a LOT of offerings and Petitions, as these Spirits literally INDWELL the Land and Area around the Home. So the best thing that can be done is either to move, or to give it lots of Offerings in the Names of the King and Queen of Spirits - Gwyn ap Nudd and Gwennevar. And hope for the best.
